Devonport Villa Inn, a luxury bed & breakfast inn,
recommended by leading tourist guide books, and a member of the
"Superior Inns of New Zealand", is situated just 2 minutes
walk from Auckland's best kept secret, beautiful Cheltenham Beach.
This
exquisite historic Edwardian villa with its Queen Anne style turret was
built in 1903 by a wealthy retired doctor. It has been immaculately
restored and decorated with rich colours enhancing the ornate hand
crafted timber joinery. Devonport Villa is an ideal location from which
to explore Auckland.
The Bed & Breakfast Inn offers luxury accommodation,
old world elegance and charm with a choice of 5 individually appointed
spacious rooms and 2 elegant suites each with its own ensuite bathroom,
heating, fine art, and comfortable seating. Relax in the private lounge
with its amazingly elaborate vaulted ceiling, wonderful stained glass
feature window, antique furniture, extensive library, complimentary tea
& coffee and cookies. Treat yourself to romantic luxury. Five of our
rooms are in the Edwardian villa and two rooms are in Cheltenham
Cottage.
Stroll around the corner to the beach and golf course or
along the waterfront to Devonport Village with its unique seaside
atmosphere, fine restaurants, cafes and art galleries or simply relax in
the garden under the sun umbrella with a glass of wine and a good book.
There is a charming character filled cottage, in the garden which
contains two guest rooms, the Oxford Room and the Beaconsfield Suite,
both with private entrances and delightfully decorated in the 1880's
style. For that special night enjoy the king four poster bed draped in
cream voile and the luxurious claw foot bath. There is a no smoking
policy in all rooms.
In the morning leisurely breakfasts are served either in
the dining room or the guests' rooms and may include our special home
made muesli and natural healthy yoghurt, Belgian waffles with maple
syrup, freshly baked yummy muffins, creamy scrambled eggs with herbs
from the garden, double smoked lean bacon, freshly squeezed orange
juice, fresh seasonal fruits and free range eggs.
Devonport is at the end of a peninsula. We suggest you
take the shuttle bus from the airport directly to our door. If driving
please call for directions. Downtown Auckland is only 8 minutes away by
ferry or 15 minutes by car.
Tariff includes full breakfast and local taxes. Check in
time is between 11.30am to 12.30 pm or between 4.30 pm and 6.30 p.m. For
arrivals outside this time please advise. If your flight arrives very
early in the morning you are welcome to drop off your bags after 8 a.m.
and have a cup of coffee until the rooms are ready, normally late
morning.
Your hosts Keith & Lesley offer you a warm friendly
welcome and personal hospitality.
The historic seaside village of Devonport is an ideal
place from which to visit Auckland. It is located on the northern shores
of Auckland Harbour and is a 10 minute ferry trip or 15 minutes by car
to downtown Auckland. The ferries run every 30 minutes from 6.30 am
until midnight. Enjoy the walks, the wide choice of restaurants &
cafes, the quieter pace of life, only minutes from downtown.
