We offer quality Bed & Breakfast accommodation with
all the modern facilities yet combined with a homely and welcoming
atmosphere.
Our 100-year-old Kauri Villa has recently been
completely redecorated and refurbished with native furniture. Our large
sunny guest lounge leads on to a private deck in a exotic small garden.
Rooms:
We have eleven comfortable rooms. They all come with
ensuites and are equipped with new commercial quality firm beds,
private telephones, suitcase racks, clock radios, heating and electric
blankets. All single and twin rooms have king single beds, the five
double rooms queen size beds, three rooms have sunny balconies.
Breakfast:
Our breakfast buffet is a house specialty. We serve
juice, home-made yoghurt with different flavours, a selection of
breakfast cereals, freshly made fruit salad, daily fetched bread, French
bread & German sour dough bread, salami, cheese, boiled eggs, jams
and marmalades, peanut butter, honey, a variety of teas and freshly
brewed coffee.
For Your Convenience:
During the day, help yourself to complimentary tea and
coffee and cookies. There is a guest fridge available in the lounge and
a variety of cold drinks can be bought.
A fax machine is available for use. We have owned and
operated 'Bavaria Bed and Breakfast' for almost 10 years and our strengths are
consistency, reliability, experience and knowledge.
We speak English, German & French, offer 1st class
service and give personal attention to our guests. We are happy to
assist you with your travel plans, recommend tours and inexpensive
rental cars and campervans.
Directions:
From the Airport:
- Take the SW motorway into the city, travel to the
end of the motorway (do not take the exit to Auckland) until you
arrive at an intersection, go straight ahead.
- At the roundabout turn into Hayr St
- At the next roundabout go straight ahead, then cross
two major intersections.
- You are then travelling along Mt Eden Road.
Immediately after the Mt Eden shopping village turn left into Valley
Road.
- Valley Road turns sharply to the left, Bavaria
Bed and Breakfast is on the right side further along.
From Queen St:
- Travel to the uphill (South) end of Queen Street
- Cross over Karangahape Road into Upper Queen Street
- Immediately after the overbridge turn right into
McKinnon Link.
- This road becomes Dominion Rd.
- At the second set of traffic lights turn left into
Valley Road.
- We are on the left side.
From the Motorway SH1:
- From the north use the Gillies Avenue off ramp
- Turn right into Gillies Avenue
- Then right into Owens Road
- At the traffic lights turn right into Mt Eden Road
- Next on left is Valley Road, Bavaria is on the right
after the sharp bend in the road.
From the South:
- Use the Greenlane Road exit
- Turn left into Greenlane Road
- Sstay on this road for approximately 4 kilometers
- Then turn right into Mt Eden Road.
- Immediately after the Mt Eden shopping village turn
left into Valley Road.
- Valley Road turns sharply to the left, Bavaria
Bed and Breakfast is on the right after the bend.
Local Points of Interest:
The central business district of Auckland is only 2 kilometer
away and can be reached by public transport easily, or you can use your
car to travel to the city centre and use the public carparks.
Despite the proximity to the city you will enjoy the
quiet atmosphere and residential surroundings of the Mount Eden suburb
with its colonial and embellished villa and their pretty gardens.
There are two local shopping on either end of Valley Road,
both within walking distance. You will find many fine restaurants
offering a variety of ethnic foods. Please ask us for recommendations.
You will find boutiques, antique shops, post offices, banks,
supermarket, gift shops, cafes and many more.
One of Auckland's most famous and interesting tourist
attractions is located in our area. The summit of Mt Eden, an extinct
volcano and crater, is a popular look-out point and offers sweeping
panoramic views over the whole city. An easy 15 minute stroll.
On the eastern slopes of Mt Eden you will find the
hidden treasure of Eden Gardens, a fine, beautifully landscaped botanic
garden in a former quarry. It is famous for the rhododendrons and azaleas.
Eden Park is world famous for rugby and cricket.
